Reception

The reception of the students in Europe is carried out in Poitiers where the first stages of the course of the students take place .They are welcome by the local staff which assists them in all their procedures. This staff is coordinated by the person in charge of the consortium who coordinates the various services beginning with International relations and its Foreign Students reception office

In addition, representatives from the other universities of the consortium are present to help the students produce the necessary documents and with procedures for further mobility. Similar procedures are duplicated on arrival of the students at each new stage of their mobility.

Academics are welcome wherever their missions begin, in Poitiers, Lisbon or Madrid by the person in charge of reception at the university.

Visas

Upon selection, all the necessary documents required by the consular services are addressed to the students and to the academics. Students are advised on the migratory procedures to undertake (which vary according to the countries of origin) and a contact is made with the appropriate consulates.

When arriving in Europe, the students assisted by the service of the international relations of the University of Poitiers which, in partnership with the services of the Ministry for the interior (Prefecture de la Vienne) and with the OFII (French Office of immigration and Integration), which initiates the process of request of a resident permit, if needed.

The students are then assisted to request the various visas which they need, according to their courses of mobility (semester 2 internship and choice for semester 4).

Housing

The students’ complex mobility requires a systematic answer to their housing needs, unless they wish otherwise

Long stays are taken care of by associating the student housing services (international residence hall Michel Foucault operated by the CROUS in Poitiers, Latin American residence halls in Madrid, university residence of the UTL/FMH in Lisbon) with selections of private lodgings operated by the services of the three universities.

Group booking in public or private university residence halls to obtain the best service at the best price without wasting the students’ work time are available for short stays (one to two weeks such as conference SEMIME in Lisbon, European Summer University of Poitiers and the congress of the UNED in Madrid.

The housing of the academics is entirely organized by the consortium (hotels of various categories in Lisbon and Madrid, hotels of various categories and university lodging for scholars invited in Poitiers). For stays longer than one week, apartments are also available.

Insurance

Students insurance is dealt with by the consortium and the cost is included in the fees. The University of Poitiers offers a service of very good level covering the students against all types of diseases, accidents, and litigations. The private insurance which will be subscribed by the University of Poitiers in the name of the consortium includes social security for all the students under 28.
